What Is Android 2.2

Posted by android

Android 2.2 is here. We used the flash 10.1 and it is more convenient than 2.1 in some small tools, but essential. As a built-in Wi-Fi hotspots tethering and powers.

In addition, a good, visible, like a new homescreen widgets and Android greets you the first time you turn on the phone, apparently a lot of work is under the hood. And 'way, as you may have heard. It 'difficult to assess accurately than a couple of reasons, we used the pre-release builds and Froyo, so things have to improve before the finals, and do not install any software at the behest of Adobe, since we have tried The Flash 10.1 on this unit, but Google promises to 2x Thanks to 5 times faster, just in time compiler. All in all, for us, the experience seemed about the same as the Nexus 2.1, although it could be a little 'more smooth transitions and animations.

JIT Compiler
This is huge. When using the JIT (just-in-time compilation), applications run much faster - as 3x faster. In addition, improvements in speed, it has a positive impact on battery life. This is all, but to set the length of the session the list of Google I / O.

Automatic Application Updates
For application developers and users, this feature will make a big difference. As a developer, you want your user base to be together in the latest version of its software, if possible - giving you more control over the user experience and allows the support of their software a little more easy.

As a user, it takes more effort than necessary to keep their applications a day. If you have 50 great apps with lots of active development, which spend much of their day to day software. Ok, this may be an exaggeration, but it is certainly preferable to have the operating system does the heavy lifting if possible.

FM Radio
This is cool. One thing is to have a huge collection of MP3s that you listen to on the way to work - but what if you wanted to hear the morning show, or a local community radio for the last local independent music scene? We should withdraw from the Walkman.

Well, it seems that Google will allow FM radio in the latest version of Android.

The new Linux kernel
New versions of these things are good for several reasons - security, stability, performance, etc. This latest version of the kernel uses less RAM - which is free for applications to use. This will have a positive impact around your phone.

OpenGL improvements
Game graphics and performance must be improved with the update of OpenGL that is intended to Froy.

Flash 10.1 support
Apple has ignored because it does not blink. Google is another approach, and give users what they want here. People have been calling for support for Flash on mobile devices.

Color Trackball
Google is to allow the color of the trackball. I do not know anyone who uses a trackball for their Android device - but I think people can look in the wrong way. It 'really useful - it works well with things from the notifier. I use it all the time without even thinking about it - when it blinks, I have a work e-mail waiting for me.

Introducing Android Gingerbread

Posted by android

Google Android Gingerbread introduced many improvements to the operating system, both at the surface and under the hood. Major changes heart - compared to what will directly affect the user - centered around four main areas:

* More speed. Google promises gingerbread is "the best version of Android, however," thanks to its responsiveness and better power management.

* Improved battery life of Android. According to Google, gingerbread "takes a more active role" in the applications of police unnecessarily drain the phone battery. Gingerbread, the system will automatically close the application if it is to use too much power in the device while operating in the background.

* Better management of applications. In addition to the police system automatically introduces app Gingerbread prolonged application settings area, which makes it easy to view detailed information on each use of the battery app. The update "Manage Programs" tool, meanwhile, is essentially a high-Task Manager: It allows you to see your active programs, see what kinds of resources to each user and manually force-stop all program if there is something wrong.

* An updated user interface. Android UI gets a fresh gingerbread. And that brings us to our next question.

What will look different from the Android Gingerbread ?
* Updated the color of the world. Gingerbread has a "visual theme simplified", which includes the notification bar, menu and a darker black.

* A new keyboard. Android Gingerbread redesigned keyboard on the screen that is said to be faster and more intuitive. In addition to its updated form, the keyboard now supports multitouch input and a function "smart" automatic correction.

* Cut and Paste improved. Android Gingerbread allows you long press on a web page or a text entry box to select words and copy them to the system clipboard.

* Simplified File Management. New Downloads integrated application allows you to use and manage each file uploaded, if you get through the internet email, or any other program.

* Better handling of the camera. An update to Android app device provides access to multiple cameras for devices with lens front and rear.

What new technologies in support of gingerbread?
* Near Field Communication (NFC). As first revealed by the CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, last month, offers full support of gingerbread in the NFC. If the phone should have the chip (the Nexus S do) you will be able to use the device against the NFC special sensors for the exchange of information and even make credit card payments.

* Internet telephony. Gingerbread can be used to support SIP-based Internet phone calls. As with NFC capabilities, however, devices must support it - and you may end up a barrier for many of us, carriers must be signed out of it, too.

* Many of the sensors. Gingerbread Android can read a lot of new types of sensors, including gyroscopes, gravity sensors and barometers - yes, barometers. The measurement of air pressure, of course, it's the future of Android applications can do.

* Screen size extra-large. Programming tools Gingerbread provides support for devices with screens larger than normal - in other words, the tablets. While most of the optimization of Android tablet is expected to arrive with honeycomb is certainly a step in that direction.
